Drake - Marvins Room

New Music: Drake - "Marvins Room"

I was surfing online and came across this new track from Drizzy Drake entitled "Marvins Room."  Drake dropped this track yesterday morning off his blog site October's Very Own.  As "Marvins Room" is 'another piece of the story,' Drake announces that he's dropping a single in July.  Take Care is coming out October 24th.  On "Marvins Room," Drake sings and spits about love, as I feel some things that are going through his life right now.  Drake and his women and alcohol.  I really dig this rack.

"I'm just saying, you can do better.  Tell me, have you heard that lately?" - Drake

Big K.R.I.T. - Country Shit Remix ft. Ludacris and Bun B [video]

One of my favorite XXL's Freshman 10, Big K.R.I.T., drops his video for "Country Shit Remix". He is definitely working his way to the top.  On the remix, Krizzle teams up with Ludacris and Bun B, rapping about that country shit, or what is known as that Southern "twang".   Recognize greatness.

Diddy | Dirty Money - Looking For Love ft. Usher [video]

I just love this song so much. I partially think the song is true, why must girls look for love at a club, what ever happened to meeting someone through a friend, maybe because that does not work out either. Hope you enjoy.

Kia Shine - Live From The Grind [video]

I always have love for this Memphis representer. Check out Kia Shine's "Live From The Grind" music video.

Tyga - Black Thoughts Vol. 2 [album art & visuals]

Young Money's Tyga Tyga is getting ready to drop his upcoming mixtape, Black Thoughts Vol. 2, on April 12.   In the lunar calendar, last year, literally was the year of the tiger, and Tyga definitely show and proved.  Last year, Tyga and Chris Brown, shook the country with their mixtape, Fan of a Fan, then proved himself worthy with Well Done.  As he prepares to drop his upcoming album Carless World, Black Thoughts Vol. 2 is the prelude.  I already have high expectations for this tape, so far my favorite released track for this tape is "Reminded" featuring Adele.

Tyga's first visual off Black Thoughts Vol. 2 "Hypnotized" directed by Brazil

Big K.R.I.T. - Return of 4eva [LP]

Download: Big K.R.I.T. - Return of 4eva

Many Big K.R.I.T. fans have been waiting for the Return of 4eva.  It has been debated if it is a mixtape or a free album, and let's say it's declared as a free LP.  Young Krizzle returns to forever, with his persistent sound of his bass in his production work as well as his southern lyricism in his rhymes.  In Return of 4eva, you can hear his growth from K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, and hear him perfecting his own sound.  His project features David Banner, Joi, Big Sant, Chamillionaire, Raheem Devaughn, Ludacris, and Bun B.  When I think of Southern rap, I think of gold grills, candy painted cars, big chains, and loud bass, but K.R.I.T. takes it way back, back to the art of story telling, when Blacks told their stories in songs and folklores.  He tells his story in rhymes.  It's the Return of 4eva hoe.

Nate Dogg Has Passed Away at 41

Throwback  picture of Nate Dogg (Left) and Snoop Dogg (Right)

Last night, Nate Dogg was trending as it was seen in seconds that he had passed away.  The first reports were from Long Beach's Press-Telegram.   According to Press-Telegram, his family had announced that he had died on Tuesday.  Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel D Hale, had suffered a stroke in 2007 and one in 2008.  His cause of death is unkown as of now, but more details to come.  Legendary for his G Funk style in Rap and R&B songs, it is sad to say the good die young.  Forty-one years of living, his life started and ended in Long Beach, but his music lives on.

APOLOGIES

For everyone who stays updated through my website, my apologies for not having it updated this past week.  I will go back and add posts.  I am currently looking for people who want to help with the site, serious inquiries only.  Email me at admin@freakytalks.com.  I am also looking for someone to run a page called Freaky's Corner for FreakyTalks.com, a section for inpsiring or amateur models.  If interested do not be afraid to email me or send submissions, a photograph, and a short biography or "about me" section.

Review: Dee Low - The Gallery

"It’s like when you walk in the gallery ... you see pictures of all type of shit, man. That’s something that some artist took out of their brain and put on that canvas .... That’s something like what this is, The Gallery, the art of taking their raps out of their brain, putting it on a piece of paper, posting it on a beat for you to see; and sometimes it cost, and sometimes it cost a lot." - "The Gallery"

Dee Low sums his own work with these words: "The Gallery is where the artist is the art. The Gallery is where the rap is the picture. The Gallery is where everything is real, even the people."  The Gallery not only caught my eye, it created a buzz in my ear as well.

When listening to a mixtape or an album the first thing I listen to is the production work.  I feel that words are easily forgotten, or may get caught on the tip of someone's tongue, whereas a tune can be easily memorized or stuck in someone's head.  Sometimes people forget the importance of production skills in music, it is more than the art of beat making, it is the basis of a song, unless the song is in acapella form.  When I played The Gallery, I felt the production for the tape is very vibrant, but not too loud.  Though the tape is not entirely produced by Monsta Beatz (the executive producers); production work by Flight School Productions, Jonah Schwartz, Monwel Productions, Nesby Phips, and Sevin Ants is also included on The Gallery; all the sounds blended well and show consistency of how hip-hop productions had sound in the 90's.

The second half of a song is its words.  Dee Low has his own style on how he flows, quick or slow, it fits the mood of the beats.  I always listen to a song as a whole, but with Dee Low's The Gallery, my ears separate his lyrics and his production work.  The lyrics are the melody; the production works are the harmony.  I know that together that when put together it creates a song, but Dee Low and his features' verses and hooks could have been heard alone.  While I'm listening to The Gallery, I felt like I was in a chill cafĂ©, listening to poets flowing, while incense is burning.  His lyrics do not overpower the beats, but it compliments it, something that many artist cannot do.

Dee Low's mixtape, The Gallery, is what it is entitled.  Though the mixtape had the same consistent theme, each track had its own interpretation.  Putting lyrics and sound to a different medium such as color and visual form gave me pictures of my own, as if I was in a real art gallery looking at art.  Each track had its own adventure, whether it was  the cops and cowboys from the old west feel or a little chapel with flashing lights in Vegas.  I dig this tape overrall, but if I had to pick, my personal favorites from this tape are "Love Me or Not" ft. Sunni Maria and Quicksmith, "3 Devils" ft. J Dolla and "Pimpalicious."

"Paintbrush flow, I got the right stroke.  A picture worth a thousand words, but yours a million more.  As I paint a beautiful body to this audio, it's coming off the canvas through your stereo."Dee Low - "The Art Show"

Download: Dee Low - The Gallery
